Your Local Editor
Hi my name is Gill Winter and I'm the local editor for the Rhyl & Vale of Clwyd MiC. I've lived in North Wales for almost 20yrs now, married to my native born husband Colin for over a decade (gosh that's sounds a long time) and with 2 beautiful young daughters this certainly does feel like home. I am actually a Geordie by birth but the pressure is on with 3 Welsh speakers in the family and although I haven't yet got past the basics the will is there its just the intonations I need to work on!
A little bit about me
....I studied Psychology at Bangor Uni back in the late 80's and have travelled and worked abroad mainly in America and the Middle East. Until recently my main employment for the past 13yrs has been in the research & social care field with children and families, although a slight change of career path, my current job with the Princess Royal Trust for Carers is proving to be just as rewarding! Being local editor for Mums in Control is a huge contrast in some respects but as I've had a burning desire to branch into the small business arena for some time now it seems also like a perfect marriage. Having the opportunity to continue working part-time for me is brilliant as one thing I never wanted to jeopodise was time with my children whilst they were young, a sacrifice I know many parents have no choice in making. The reaction to the magazine has been phenominal and it just goes to show the gap in the market - so many mums have commented on how refreshing it is to have a magazine completely dedicated to supporting the lifestyle that they now have as working parents, and lets face it, its a big agenda!
